It's unrealistic to expect AI developers to possess all-encompassing knowledge, which highlights the necessity of collaboration. Furthermore, startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and some public administration entities often cannot afford to hire full-time experts in philosophy, diverse areas of law, and domain expertise. This underscores the need for a platform that connects developers with interdisciplinary experts and civil society groups.

What is the role of NewTech & Us in this platform?

NewTech & Us provides the necessary infrastructure to bridge the existing gap without charging any commission for this service. This commitment stems from the founder, Imane Hmiddou (Ing. Mgr, MA), an AI governance expert who has been working in this field since 2019 and is currently a doctoral researcher at UNIBO. From empirical observations working with startups, SMEs, EU institutions, EU projects consortiums,  and authorities on AI compliance, AI had to be managed through an interdisciplinary approach to comprehensively identify, mitigate, and monitor risks, starting from a multi-faceted definition of risk from various perspectives. Experts and NGOs profiles are connect directly through their linked websites, and contact details are only shared with consent from the respective experts. NewTech & Us collaborates with experts and NGOs to verify their submitted claims before publicly listing their profiles. This process includes discussing their expertise, role, and expectations during a debrief call and reviewing their resume.Finally, NewTech & Us will request that all collaborators share their learnings in the format they prefer. We can also offer a template to harmonize the collection of best practices and lessons learned.
